Star-Gazing

Instructor: John Albers, 4e Board President

Ages: All ages
Dates: Thursdays, July and August 9-11 pm
Location: Gordon’s Park, Tehkummah

lights, solar systems and star mapping. Call 705-859-2470.

Creating Geometric Patterns in Nature

Instructor: Boo Watson
Ages: All ages
Dates: Sunday August 8, 1-5 pm
Sunday September 12, 1-5 pm
Location: Providence Bay
Cost: Donations of money or useful farm
items are welcome.

Participants will work in pairs and triplets to create LARGE
geometric fi gures in the sand. Becoming human versions of
the geometer’s tools: the compass, the straightedge, and
the pencil. Then the group will explore creative movement
together, using actions, feelings, ideas, and impulses arising
from the creation of the sand geometries. No previous
experience with geometry or dance needed.

Exploring our Creative Nature

Instructor: Heather Thoma

Ages: Teens and Adults
Dates: Sunday June 27th, 1-4 pm
Sunday July 25th, 1-4 pm
Sunday August 15th, 1-4 pm
Location: LoonSong Garden, Little Current
Cost: $35 each, or $90 for all three

See the world around you with new eyes. Cultivate your
natural creativity. We will engage all the senses by observing
and exploring a natural environment, and apply basic artistic
approaches to deepen our understanding. The only pre-requisite
is an open mind and sense of adventure. Bring home new
outlooks on your daily life. We will host three independent
but related sessions. You can participate in just one, or all.

Clay Fun for Kids

Instructor: Andy Smith
Ages: 9-13 (max 7 kids)
Date: Sunday August 7, 1-3 pm
Location: Island Clayworks Studio, Rockville
Cost: $25, includes materials

Kids love clay! Working in a real potter’s studio, each student will have the opportunity to create durable clay pottery. The creations will be kiln-fired after drying.

Each week we’ll explore a different Manitoulin artist, and
create works playing with that style and technique. Kids will have a chance to use artist-quality materials.

Kagawong Art Camp for Kids

Instructor: Joyce Young, 4e Board Member
Ages: 8 - 10
July 19-23 Monday-Friday, 1- 4 pm
Aug. 16-20 Monday-Friday, 1-4 pm
Location: Park Centre, Kagawong
Cost: $150
Create your very own imaginary world and imaginary
creatures in mixed media. We will have an outing every day. We will go to the beach to make sand castles. We will make glittery masks and imaginary creatures from clay. Learn how to mix clear, clean watercolours for paintings that sing. We will paint with feathers and twigs and make friends with our imagination. On the last day we will put our imaginary world together in an art exhibition for your parents to see.

Summer Land Art Workshop

We will gather to improvise and develop our skills in creating “sculpture” from the land with found objects in nature. Our creations will remain on the land and d/evolve over time. We plan to attend the Star Party at Gordon’s Park on Saturday, for inspirations for our work on Sunday.
